  1. 101 Park Avenue

    New York, United States

Park Avenue office tower, just south of Grand Central, between 40th and 41st streets. The cinema has often filmed it: it can also be seen in The Fisher King, Alice by Woody Allen, Brewster's Millions, The Secret of My Success, and Avengers.

The scene : The black glass tower of 101 Park Avenue serves as the Clamp Center, the ultramodern skyscraper where Billy and Kate work: it is unveiled in a low angle shot, then on its forecourt where a crowd of employees gathers, and the couple arrives there after crossing 41st Street. It is also in front of its entrance that the two heroes emerge, cardboard under their arm, amidst a gathering. Only the exteriors were filmed here, with the interiors being studio sets.

  2. Burbank, United States

Permanent decor of New York streets from the Warner Bros studio backlot in Burbank.

The scene : This New York street set from the Warner backlot is used twice: the Chinatown shop where the gremlin is discovered was set up here, and it is also here, and not in front of the real St. Patrick's Cathedral, that all the shots where Murray and Sheila Futterman play the tourists were filmed.

  3. Hennessy Street (Warner Bros backlot)

    Burbank, United States

Hennesy Street is a permanent set street in the backlot of Warner Bros Studios in Burbank, California. Built in 1935 under the name "Frisco Street," this horseshoe-shaped street was once called "Tenement Street" before being renamed in the early 1980s in honor of set designer Dale Hennesy, who died during the reworking of the set to which his name is still attached. Its architecture recreates the Lower East Side of New York, featuring brick facades, metal fire escapes, and shopfronts. Still standing and well-maintained, it is among the outdoor sets presented to the public during the Warner Bros Studio Tour. One of its fire escapes also served as the backdrop for the album cover photograph of Prince's Purple Rain.

The scene : The Chinatown of the film is recreated on Hennessy Street: the limousine enters the street from the east side, the camera lingers on the demolition site facing the shop with the mogwai, Gizmo is retrieved from the southern alley, and Billy is dropped off on the west side after returning from an appointment.

  4. Burbank, United States

The scene : With the neighboring Stage 14, this Warner studio lot hosted most of the film's interiors.

  5. New York, United States

Iconic crossroads of Manhattan at the intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue, famous for its giant advertising screens and constant crowds.

The scene : On their way to the Clamp Center, Billy and Kate walk up Times Square via Broadway, between 43rd and 46th Streets, and cross 46th Street West; they hail a taxi, but the driver leaves without them upon learning that they are not going to the airport.

  6. Canal Street & Mott Street (Chinatown)

    New York, United States

The scene : The film opens in the real Chinatown: the camera frames the building at the corner of Canal Street and Mott Street, then dives into Mott Street in a subjective view.

  7. Mott Street & Mosco Street (Chinatown)

    New York, United States

The scene : Still in Chinatown, the limousine leaves Mott Street by turning onto the small Mosco Street.

  8. 138 West 30th Street (Manhattan)

    New York, United States

The scene : Billy exits the prison through this stone building marked with the NYPD emblem, on West 30th Street, where Kate is waiting for him.

  9. Burbank, United States

The scene : The film's interiors are split between this set and Stage 25 at Warner Studios in Burbank.
