The CineTrotter app, published by Croissants SAS, creates no account: no name, no email address, no password. There is therefore no account to close. Your phone does, however, leave data on our server, under an identifier drawn at random, and you can ask us to erase it.
Ask for erasure
- Open the CineTrotter app, then Settings › About.
- Long-press Client identifier to copy it.
- Write to contact@cinetrotter.fr with the subject “Erase my data”, pasting this identifier into the message.
We erase your data within one month at most, and reply to confirm it.
Without this identifier we cannot find your data: nothing links it to your name or your email address. If you uninstalled the app, reinstall it with the same Apple or Google account: as a rule, if the phone’s backup is turned on, it finds the same identifier again. Otherwise it draws a new one, which does not lead to your former data.
What is erased
Everything our server links to your identifier:
- the anonymous record created for your phone, and its link to the identifier;
- the films and places you opened, and the days on which you used the app;
- your film searches, ongoing or past, and your notifications;
- the notification token, the language and the system of your phone.
Erasure is final: we will not be able to undo it.
What remains, and for how long
- The films and places your searches brought into CineTrotter stay on the map, for everyone: they are no longer linked to your phone.
- Backups of our database disappear on their own, at the latest 30 days after the erasure.
- The server’s technical logs (IP address, date, address requested) are deleted after 90 days at most, and the counters against abuse after 7 days. The erasure itself leaves a line in them that records it, with a fingerprint of your identifier and its first 8 characters; it is deleted along with these logs, after 90 days at most.
- If your phone was flagged by our defences against abuse, with bursts of requests for instance, that report is not erased by your request. It holds only a fingerprint of the identifier, plus its first 8 characters for the oldest ones; how long it is kept has not been set yet.
The identifier itself stays on your phone and, if it is turned on, in the phone’s backup (iCloud Keychain, your Google account backup). If you open the app again, our server starts from a blank record under that same identifier.
What you can do right away, in the app
- Settings › Notifications › Push notifications: turning the switch off erases your notification token from our server.
- Settings › Privacy › Manage ad preferences: review your advertising choices.
- In the search, Clear history: empty the list of your recent searches, kept on your phone. This does not erase what TMDB and Google Firebase Analytics have already received from each search.
For everything else, and for any question, write to contact@cinetrotter.fr. What we collect is detailed in the privacy policy.
