Beach Street & Dow Street (Port Melbourne)
Port Melbourne, Australia
At the intersection of Beach Street and Dow Street stand the buildings of the former gasworks of South Melbourne, which closed after natural gas deposits were discovered in Australia in the 1960s. Extensively renovated, they retain some original outer walls; the rest of the site has been transformed into Gasworks Arts Park, an eight-acre park whose heritage buildings house theaters, galleries, and studios.
The scene : The dilapidated buildings of the old gas factory become the Halls of Justice, the decrepit headquarters of the Main Force Patrol: they open the film, return later in the story during the day, and some interiors of the MFP were also filmed there.
Spotswood Pumping Station
Spotswood, Australia
Former sewer pumping station of Spotswood, southwest of downtown Melbourne, now integrated into Scienceworks, the science museum of Museums Victoria (entrance at 2 Booker Street). The complex also served as Blackmoor prison in the series Prisoner: Cell Block H.
The scene : The courtyard and buildings of the old pumping station serve as the headquarters of the MFP: Max waits there for Goose, Fifi and Labatouche eavesdrop on his conversation, Johnny the Boy is released there due to lack of a complainant, which leads to a brawl, and Max comes there in the early morning to submit his resignation before passing by later to go seek revenge.

South Lawn Car Park (University of Melbourne)
Parkville, Australia
Underground parking fitted under the south lawn of the University of Melbourne in 1971-1972, based on plans by Jan van der Molen; its parabolic shell structure supported by short columns gives it the appearance of a crypt.
The scene : The underground parking lot with its strange vaults becomes the MFP garage: Barry reveals the Pursuit Special, the black V8 "Black on Black" that he has assembled piece by piece, to Max and Goose. Max returns there, crazed with pain, to retrieve his uniform and the car before hunting down the gang.

The Warehouse Nightclub that occupied this address has been demolished, and the entire street has since been redeveloped to the point of being unrecognizable.
The scene : In front of the Sugartown Cabaret, Johnny the Boy sabotages Goose's Kawasaki while he is enchanted by the singer; in the morning, Goose mounts the rigged motorcycle and speeds south along Claremont Street, under Johnny's watchful gaze.
Seaford, Australia
The scene : On the beach, at the foot of the wooden pier, the Toecutter gang is passing the time — Johnny the Boy, recently released, understood — by shooting a rifle at a storefront mannequin.
Fraser Street (Clunes)
Clunes, Australia
Clunes is the site of the first officially recorded gold discovery in Victoria, by William Campbell in 1850. Its main street, classified as heritage, was built during the gold rush of 1851-1854 and features churches, banks, and hotels from that era. Revived as the 'book town', the small town hosts the Clunes Booktown Festival every Australian spring since 2007 and also served as a backdrop for the 2003 Ned Kelly.
