The Rock Store (Cornell)
Cornell, United States
Restaurant opened in 1963 on Mulholland Highway, in Cornell, in the Santa Monica Mountains; this roadside diner has appeared in many productions, including Entourage, The Sweetest Thing, Raising Hope, and The Bionic Woman.
The scene : Billy speeds up the road and pulls into the parking lot of this diner, the very same place where Lana later runs out, right towards the fake Jason; the restaurant's interior also serves for indoor scenes.
Rancho Rosita (Camarillo)
Camarillo, United States
Private ranch of the Santa Rosa Valley, near Camarillo, which has long hosted film shoots, advertisements, music videos, and photo sessions — scenes from Roman Polanski's Chinatown were filmed there. The owners do not allow visitors: the house and barn can only be seen from the road.
The scene : The ranch serves as Pinehurst, the home where Tommy is placed: we see the house, its upstairs rooms — Violet's room, the one where Robin stumbles upon Roy and Jake — and the large front bay through which Roy projects Reggie's grandfather. The climax takes place in the barn: Reggie breaks down the door with the tractor, Pam hides in a shed before suddenly emerging with a chainsaw, and the confrontation with Roy escalates to the attic.
Heavenly Pond (Franklin Canyon)
Los Angeles, United States
Small pond of Franklin Canyon Park, above Beverly Hills, whose parking lot was donated by the Boy Scouts in 1985; the site closes at sunset. Franklin Canyon Drive, which leads there, is the road that Andy and Opie travel in the opening credits of The Andy Griffith Show, when it was still just a path. The area has also served as a filming location for Friday the 13th, Part 4 and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
The scene : The small parking lot by the pond becomes the trailer park where Reggie, Pam, and Tommy visit Demon: the truck drives up Franklin Canyon Drive and then turns onto Turtle Pond Trail, Tommy remains fascinated by the neon sign before getting into a fight with Junior, and the outdoor toilet scene ("Those damn enchiladas!") is filmed there.
Los Angeles, United States
The scene : On the wooded path that circles the lake, Tina and Eddie isolate themselves in a clearing to kiss and then make love; Eddie then goes down to the water's edge to skip stones, and the couple meets their fate there.
Los Angeles, United States
The scene : It is undoubtedly on this canyon road that Roy settles his score with the greasers, with his famous "You talking to me?"; the location remains approximate: IMDb refers to Franklin Canyon Drive, and the author who discovered the filming locations sees it only as the most similar road.
